XP Pro, SP3

WLM: Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.0206)

Thought I'd cracked a sign-in problem by uninstalling/reinstalling WLM.

Although I tick "Remember password", when signing in to WLMail, I am
presented with a login box with my username filled in but not my
password. In the past, log in was automatic.

Once I've signed in during a session, I do not have a problem. Each time
I open WLM, it signs in automatically. After a reboot/restart, I am
presented with the sign in box (minus password).

Do not have Index.dat files ticked in CCleaner (although problem is
supposed to be fixed now) and also keep anything to do with "Live" in
Cookies to keep column.

Why can I not log in automatically and why is my password not being
remembered after reboot?

I am having the same exact problem! This started yesterday for me. I have
to keep putting in passwords on all my accounts (6 of them!) or email does
not come in or out! But yet the "remember me" is checked! I put in a ticket
with Microsoft help, but its been almost a whole day since I heard back from
them. They give you the "make sure your password and screen name are
correct" lines. DUH I guess they have to make sure they start at square 1,
but jeez! I'll let you know if I ever get it fixed! I just downloaded xp
service pack 3, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it. We're not
the only ones with this problem. There's been a few people with this problem
and they didn't resolve their problem yet from what I've seen either.

Good luck in finding an answer! I will keep looking!

Not seeing it here...
If a Hotmail account in need of verification.
- logon via mail.live.com using IE, if prompted to enter a string of characters, do so, access the inbox, then retest in WLM

I have three WL IDs.

@btinternet.com (default)
@hotmail.com (an original account, not .co.uk)
@live.co.uk

WLM lets me sign in with any of them as "Sign in with a different ID".

Is there a link to verify IDs?

Will do a search.

Found this in WL Help:

http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=accountv1&market=en-ww&querytype=topic&query=accountv1_proc_easi_verification.htm

When I go into account summary there is NO option to verify my e-mail
address.

Anyway, as stated, I can sign in with any one of my three IDs. I get
messages sent to the inbox of all three accounts

cf. your thread in IE General & WinXP newsgroups:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general/browse_frm/thread/76d073b535bd0100

[Preferably, you would have made one (1) post to all 3 newsgroups
originally.]

True. However at the time I thought it was solely a WLM problem but have
no idea what may be causing it now.

Any solution yet?

I installed WLM in March, and really like having all my mail in one place...
if it were not for this, I would have gone back to my previous mail handler
(and may have to, if this problem is not resolved). A few weeks ago I started
having this problem... my password is not remembered, and it does not sign in
automatically. Altho not being able to start your computer, leave, and then
come and check your mail may seem like a trivial problem, it is really quite
annoying. Also, there are times when others need to check my mail and I do
not like giving out my password too readily.

I tried repairing Sign In Assistant, also uninstalled Windows Live Messenger
to see if there was any conflict, but no go. I noticed that this problem only
occurs after I've shut my computer down: if I shut down all my programs and
log out of windows and log in again, WLM starts right up automatically and
signs in.

Nobody appears to have a solution to this problem - or even worse,
what's causing it.

Apart from the automatic sign in situation, I can't retain a .NET
Passport in my user account between reboots even after using Kelly's
registry fix (enable saving of .NET Passwords).

I did a quick fix for my problem by clicking "Tools/Options/Connection/Stop
signing in", which solved the problem of my mail not loading automatically.
However, now that I've done this, my username and password are not being
remembered in Windows Live Messenger, which also is set to start with
windows. This was not a problem before. Can't win. :(

I'm currently in contact with the Windows Live Technical Support team.

It's a bit of a slow process (e-mail every other day at the moment) but
will report back if solution is found.
