I have post to questions recently entitled "Compacting........or rather not
quite...."
One dated...01 February 2010 23:50
The other....03 February 2010 13:13
To this newsgroup:-
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
Has anyone found them or know of their whereabouts, as I am beginning to get
quite concerned?
Have they been kidnapped or taken to another newsgroup?

I can guarantee you that your mail alias invalid...@invalid.com has
something to do with it.
PS: Your repost hasn't shown up here either though it made it to Google
Groups somehow:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress/browse_frm/thread/941c8bf2523cfaca
I changed the mail ID from my email address early Dec 09, when I was alarmed
to discover it published on the internet accessed newsgroups, I have
accessed the newsgroups many times successfully since the change as I have
finally for the thread above and for this one. Quite what happened to the
missing two posts I am mystified, they show as being sent in my sent items
folder?
Can I ask, if a post sent to a newsgroup does not get through, would I
receive a not delivered notification? I cant see how it be returned if it
does not have my email address.
What happens to them, are they stuck on a server somewhere or do they get
deleted?
I have always accessed the newsgroups via my OE and you have personally been
keeping me afloat for around 6 or 8 years now.
As most, or nearly all of my posts are getting through, could you explain
why my alias is less than ideal, an then I can alter it.
Many thank
Steve
P.S. Just in case you cannot see it, my message/post has arrived on the
newsgroup in my OE newsgroup, its the next one up. <well on my screen
anyway>

No.

Try changing it to invalid_invalid@, invalidinvalid@ or just invalid@: There
shouldn't be any periods before the [AT] symbol. Then again, OE "View |
Current View | Show replies to my messages" would no longer show your
earlier posts as "yours" after you do so.

They've not shown up here nor in web-based newsgroup (for me at least):
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
That being said, there have been all sorts of "synchronizing" problems with
the newsservers since April 2009 or so but usually posts made & read via
NNTP (a newsreader) have not been effected.
That being said, you're access this newsgroup via the MS newsserver
news://msnews.microsoft.com, right?

I have no idea, how do I find out? I just followed your instructions to
access the newsgroups via OE and as said they are listed in my folders
list - I just select ctrl +w and select "subscribe" to choose the newsgroup
I need.
And I am quite happy with this method.
I don't know what you mean by "MS newsserver", as far as I know these posts
get sent out the same route as my normal emails, i.e via my outgoing ISP.
I am mistified as to why you cannot see my "original" email, yet your can
see this thread, as I said I can now see the other thread/post listed right
obove this one.
Should I send the original email yet again?
Cheers
Steve

No. AFAIK, they never got here.
Regarding your news server. What is listed as your news server in the OE
folder tree after your local folders? Or, Tools | Accounts | News? If
you're not using msnews.microsoft.com to post here, you should. You will
probably see better results.

You are not "sending (an) email" when posting to this newsgroup.
What does clicking on the following link do on your computer? =>

Either way, I take the view that when my messages get deleted then
clearly I am succeeding in my aims and I feel very happy after that and
normally give a wo or three squirts on the face or in the mouth of Peter
Folde's sister.

Can I ask? If I am sending new posts and can see them - but you cannot -
"where" are the ones I can residing?
Do posts in fact get listed on many different servers etc, around the world?
Can you see my latest post above send a little earlier:-

it)

Why is it that all of these posts are getting through to you, yet when I
send new posts either just before or just after you are unable to see them?
(I did change my ID to invalid...@invalid.com (i.e. I changed the "."
dot in between to two invalid's to a underscore"_"......I have just noticed
that when the ID is in the post, there is a blue line underneath the
address, I believe PA could not see the "." dot and therefore thought there
was a space <gap>, if you look at it now you cannot see the underscore "_".)

I have no idea as yet. The address you were posting with was showing fine.
It is suggested that it end in .invalid and not in invalid.com. That is a
possible reason for missing posts.
Take a screen shot and then upload it here:
TinyPic:
http://tinypic.com/
After the upload completes, copy the last URL listed: Direct link for
layouts and paste it in the thread.

...do you see a new newsserver and newsgroup entry for the OE6 newsgroup in
Folders pane on left-hand side?
http://i48.tinypic.com/mkxdur.jpg
Although I would point out that I always had
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
listed "TWICE" in the folders list (I just don't normally show the folders
list showing)
I just tried to send this reply after clicking on the link, but it would not
send it - saying there was no sender specified please check your news
configuration.
So have returnd to my ogininal method/newsgroup to send this (which is also
listed as -

But subscribing to the same newsgroup in the both accounts could cause
problems. OE uses the server name/newsgroup as the DBX file name. So I
would get rid of the first account since both the newsgroups there are
in the second account.
As for the No Sender error message, see:
OLEXP: "The Message Could Not Be Sent. Unable to Post Message, No Sender
Was Specified" When You Post to a Newsgroup
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=271742
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=271375
If the name and e-mail address seem OK, retype and click APPLY. If you
still have problems, delete the news account, restart OE and set it up
again.

2. Enable 'Show Hidden Files and Folders' via Start | Control Panel | Folder
Options | View (cf.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html).
3a. Open OE, right-click on the first instance of "msnews.microsoft.com" in
Folders pane [cf. http://i48.tinypic.com/mkxdur.jpg; not
"msnews.microsoft.com (1)"] and select REMOVE ACCOUNT.
3b. Now right-click on the remaining instance of
"microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress" and select
UNSUBCRIBE.
4. Close OE & reboot.
5. After making sure that OE is still closed...
Open Windows Explorer (WinKey+E) and navigate to the store folder you wrote
down in #1 above, right-click on any instances of a file named...
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress.dbx
or...
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (1).dbx
[You may find 2 or more!] and Delete it/them, then close Windows Explorer.
6. Open OE, resubscribe to OE6 newsgroup
(microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress) & all should be
well.

Michael, your post (made via Windows Live Mail, I might add) does NOT
show up in OE here. Methinks the "newsserver synchronization issue" is
still with us.
QED: Does the Communities 'feechur' have anything to do with this?
