Script problem?

Hi all,

I tried to configure a javascript image display function called Lightbox
(www.lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2) on one of my web pages,
unsuccessfully.

Now when surfing in IE6, a few websites do not display correctly: Some
content which should be to the right alongside other content (usually in
<div> tags), shows completely below its correct position instead. Also some
.js buttons move strangely upon hover. I have deleted the downloaded .js
files from my pc, and restored to a prior restore point, but still have the
problem.

Can someone suggest how I can repair my IE6 without reinstalling it?

The js files were in a function available here:
www.lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2 . It's quite popular. I have
copied/pasted the instructions from their site below my reply here, and you
can see the js file names.

One of the live pages (not my site) that do not display correctly is:
http://www.redlets.net/properties.asp My IE6 displays the list of
properties below the left hand element instead of beside it. This did not
happen before I messed with Lightbox, and still does not happen in Firefox
or Opera, but I did not use them when configuring Lightbox.

How to Use
Part 1 - Setup
1.. Lightbox 2 uses the Prototype Framework and Scriptaculous Effects
Library. You will need to include these three Javascript files in your
header (in this order).
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/prototype.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="js/scriptaculous.js?load=effects,builder"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/lightbox.js"></script>
2.. Include the Lightbox CSS file (or append your active stylesheet with the
Lightbox styles).
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/lightbox.css" type="text/css"
media="screen" />
3.. Check the CSS and make sure the referenced prev.gif and next.gif files
are in the right location. Also, make sure the loading.gif and close.gif
files as referenced near the top of the lightbox.js file are in the right
location.
Part 2 - Activate
1.. Add a rel="lightbox" attribute to any link tag to activate the
lightbox. For example:
<a href="images/image-1.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="my caption">image #1</a>
Optional: Use the title attribute if you want to show a caption.
2.. If you have a set of related images that you would like to group,
follow step one but additionally include a group name between square
brackets in the rel attribute. For example:
<a href="images/image-1.jpg" rel="lightbox[roadtrip]">image #1</a>
<a href="images/image-2.jpg" rel="lightbox[roadtrip]">image #2</a>
<a href="images/image-3.jpg" rel="lightbox[roadtrip]">image #3</a>
No limits to the number of image sets per page or how many images are
allowed in each set. Go nuts!

I can't see how "messing with Lightbox" (which is only used when compiling
your own webpages) would have any affect on other pages (assuming the
machine is fully patched at Windows Update).

See if selecting & using a Restore Point that predates "messing with
Lightbox" corrects the behavior.

I already restored to before the 'messing". But I'm not up to date with
W/Update. Could that make a difference??

Yes, as would not being able to get fully patched.
