I have tried multiple tests & cannot figure this out &
the "solution" that MS provides does not solve anything.
I have 1 POP3 account & 3 hotmail accounts. The POP3 will
send & receive without problem, but the hotmail accounts
will ONLY receive.
The exact error message that Outlook express gives matches
is:
" The server does not support the required HTTP methods.
Account: Hotmail
Server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp
Protocol: HTTPMail
Server Response: Method Not Allowed
Port: 0
Secure(SSL): No
Error Number: 0x800CCC35
Hotmail functions normally through the Hotmail Web site."
Now MS says that it knows of this problem, but in
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - Q311022 they claim
"CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you have multiple Hotmail e-
mail accounts that are assigned to a single e-mail
identity in Outlook Express. "
But this is not correct.
The solution they propose also does NOT solve this problem:
"WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, create one or more new e-
mail identities and verify that only one Hotmail account
exists for each e-mail identity.
For additional information about how to create a new
identity, click the article number below to view the
article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
Q209169 How to Create and Use Identities in Outlook
Express "
BUT IT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.
On a new computer with only 1 Hotmail account & NO POP3.
I get the EXACT SAME error message & it still RECEIVES
email, but will not allow me to SEND email!!!! & I only
have 1 identity set up on this computer.
HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM????
Please help if you can....Thanks

I did as you suggested & allowed cookies for hotmail.com &
msn.com, but I still get the same error message listed
below & in my original post.
It still downloads email w/out problem, but will not send.
I tried this on both computers, the one where the only
Identity & email address is the 1 hotmail account.
> On this one the problem is there even though when I use
a web page to go to www.hotmail.com, it already has me
logged under my user name, so I am assuming that the
cookies are working or I assume, the web page would not
already have me logged in. I tried it while logged out as
well, just to see if that made a difference, but it does
not.
I also tried shutting down all the explorer windows &
Outlook Express & then reopening, & then I tried a full
reboot, so it obviously is not related to the cookies.
(Well at least that's my assumption. If I knew for sure
what was causing it, I probably wouldn't have the problem
still.
And on the other computer with 1 identity, but 1 POP3
email & 3 or 4 hotmail accounts.
The problems seems to have occured around the time that MS
changed the way hotmail worked around the time it
introduce the .net program.
Any other suggestions would still be greatly appreciated.
At least I'm able to GET my email. That would really suck
if it was the other way around. But thank goodness, I
have my POP3 account.

As you're painfully aware, Hotmail in Outlook Express is a Beta application and you're not likely to get any help from Hotmail Support. I/we wish I/we had better answers for you.
