When the installation of SP3 starts reviewing my PC W2K
Pro installation it stops and says that ARCSETUP.EXE is in
use. I tried to install in safe mode with the same result.
the upgrade was successful on my W2K advanced server.

Any ideas??

Hi

Most likely a permission/rights problem on the file (corrupt or missing)...

I'm having the exact same problem. The file is there. Doesn't seem
corrupted. Permissions are correct. But this issue is on my W2K Advanced
server, not W2K Pro.

..any ideas? Haven't seen any articles on Microsoft about it.

This issue was resolved by doing a cacls from the command prompt.
I noticed a couple files, including arcsetup.exe, had {NP} next to it.
Initially, i couldn't change the file "from" read-only. The SP3 install kept
telling me the file was in use or open. Once i deleted the {NP} attribute, i
was then able to take off 'read-only', reapply permissions, and the install
continued. All is well so far.

Hope this can be of assistance to anyone having similiar SP3 issues.
