I have a wireless router, Windows 2000 server (domain controller with
Active Directory), laptop (wireless) and an XP workstation. I can get
to the Internet on all three computers but I cannot access printers or
files hosted on the server. I have DNS and DHCP running on the server
but the XP and laptop timeout when running ipconfig /renew. However,
the XP and laptop can ping the server. If I run a crossover cable from
the server to the XP box, I can access and use the printers and files
on the server with no problems. I am a hack. I am stumped. Your help
would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about the ipconfig/renew failure, but otherwise this behavior would
be consistent with a router running DHCP - make sure that this function is
turned off.

There is a checkbox in the LAN Settings for DHCP and it is not checked.

I set my netgear router to act as a DHCP server. Shut down the W2K
server. The network card on the workstation is set to get its IP from
the DHCP server. I changed the vlan from 192.168.222.x to 192.168.0.x.
I ran a renew and it got an address in the range the router's DHCP
server gives out but I still get an error. What would cause the time
out?

C:\Documents and Settings\rick>ipconfig /renew

How many Ethernet adapters do you have? The nVidia is getting a proper
address but the one below it is not.

Under Network Connections, I see 3Com, NVidia and a 1394 Connection.
The 3Com and 1394 Connection are disabled. Under Device Manager, I see
the same adapters with the same state. I know that the computer has two
physical NICs.

Whatever the network adapter named "Ethernet adapter
{958A76D8-9886-4EDF-B1F9-D3190B8A4393}" is, that is the cause of your
continued error messages. The nVidia adapter is getting a valid address and
should be working fine, the other one is not. You need to find the other
one and get rid of it to get rid of the error message.
