Getting Wrong Profile

We have one old Windows 2000 Pro (that we use once a quarter to run a
database routine that we haven't yet moved to a WinXP computer). When
I login (as JohnDoe), it doesn't give me my normal desktop/etc. When I
look in c:\documents and setting, there are two folders. One is
"JohnDoe" (which has all the correct stuff in it), the other is
"JohnDoe.Computer05" (which is the one it's loading when I log in as
JohnDoe). This is, and always has been, a stand-alone computer.

Sounds like your profile became corrupt or inaccessible so being that
your logon credentials were (are) valid Windows created a new profile
for you and allowed you to log on with the new profile. First verify
and make sure that you have full permissions on your profile folder, if
the permissions were changed and if you do not have at least read
permissions on the folder the system will not be able to log you on with
the profile, so it will create a new one for you. If the profile folder
has full permissions then the profile may be corrupt, see here:

A quick way to test for profile corruption is to create a new user
account then copy the suspect profile to the new account and test to see
if the same behaviour occurs, see here for instructions:

If the profile is corrupt you don't need to throw away (delete) the
