that has a few areas in the widget.
The widget has some text displayed, indicating that I can search for
people in this dialog.
There is a Find text box, where if I type in text, user entries that
contain that text in some way are displayed. There is also a button
that, when pressed, starts the search of the users.
There is a box containing a series of users whose information matches
the text entered.
There is an Add button and text field. The add button, when pressed,
places the user name selected in the previously mentioned box into the
text field. This process can be repeated to build up multiple users in
the add text field.
There is are OK and Cancel buttons.
A user recently asked why, in some cases, terms typed into the find
text box were not being found. He explained that he was typing in a
department number (which is one of the fields being displayed in our
user information).
I tried this with my own department, and find that 8 staff are missing
from the find results, and there is at least 1 person included who is
no longer in the department.
If I do a search on a specific user name, instead of the number, that
user appears.
So, my first question is, how does SharePoint get the user information
that is searched via the People Picker widgets?
Secondly, does anyone know why SharePoint doesn't return all the
legitimate search results for this widget?
Thirdly, and probably most importantly, what types of things could I
try to correct this situation?
Thank you very much.
