Hmm... MSI return code 1602 means "The user cancels installation".
Could you look at the log file and search for "Product: Microsoft Office
Accounting 2009"? The first hit should contain a more meaningful error
message.

I suspect there are other processes interferring with OA 2009 setup, or
perhaps the download was not complete.
If you didn't do so, I suggest downloading and saving the Express setup onto
your computer before running it.

Thanks,
Benjamin

Thank you very much for your kind answer at "MOAP 2009 Installation Problem"
thread.
I'll continue at this one, ok?!
It's curious, but I can install the MOAP 2008 without problems. Why 2009
version don't?

Well, I've disabled almost all services and auto-initializing softwares for
a clean boot and tried again. Unfortunately got the same error.

Here goes the last lines of the log file, and thank you for your efforts on
this.

Please copy the mid section of the log file instead where there is a line
that starts with these words "Product: Micrsoft Office Accounting".

Benjamin,

Sorry, but the only section where the words "Product: Microsoft Office

I've uploaded the whole file at:

Thanks,

Thanks for the log file. The following seems to be cause of the failure.

"Error 1609.An error occurred while applying security settings.
Authenticated Users is not a valid user or group. This could be a problem
with the package, or a problem connecting to a domain controller on the
network. Check your network connection and click Retry, or Cancel to end the
install. Unable to locate the user's SID, system error 1332"

Could you tell me what Operating System you are running? Is it English
based?
Do you have network connection when running setup?

Thanks for your efforts again, Benjamin.

Running XP Home SP3, Brazilian Version.
No network connections other then a active Wi-Fi Internet and a disabled
bluetooth.

I just uninstalled the MOAP2008 and SQL, Enabled ALL services, boot, and
tried to install the 2009 version...unfortunatelly, same error.

Again, the MOAP2008 remains installing with no problems.

Cheers,
Sergio.

This is interesting:

As Intuit Quicken, Microsoft will have to do the same with Office Accounting

I had the same error message installing to a Spanish version of Windows Vista
Home Basic. I believe there is a bug in MOA setup that looks for security
group names in English and does not compensate for security groups translated
to the local language of Windows.

I was able to work around the bug by creating a user group called
"Authenticated Users" (in English). Setup ran fine afterwards, and thus far
it doesn´t seem to have affected running the software.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Mauricio, you showed me the way.
Benjamin, your dedication stimulated me not to give up.

Well, my Windows is a XP HOME, Brazilian version.
As a HOME edition, I could not define groups, so I downloaded the "Microdoft
Tweak UI" Power Toy:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx)
- In 'Access Control' I've changend the 'Connect to registry remotrly'
setting;
- I've verified that only one group was available with full control, so I
pressed 'Add' button;
- In the 'Select User Groups' window, pressed 'Advanced' button and then
'Find Now';
- As I don't understand what is it for, I've selected many of the names in
the list and activated them with full permissions;
- After a reboot, the installation started without problems.

Cheers!!!

Hi Michel,

Unfortunately I can't help you with Vista, but found something interesting
in XP that could be a clue.

Booting in 'Security Mode', locate your HD in My Computer then press righ
button then 'properties'. Only in Security Mode the tab 'Security' appears.
There you can manage users rights directly. Note that if you don't know what
you are doing you can complicate your life even more.

Found this article that can be more efficient:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766208.aspx

Good luck!

Dear Guys,

I'm trying for months now to solve exactly this problem. With windows 7 German I installed recently the English Language Package. But I did not get through with your workaround with User/Groups.

Can anybody help me?

Could you look at the log file and search for "Product: Microsoft Office
Accounting 2009"? The first hit should contain a more meaningful error
message.

I suspect there are other processes interferring with OA 2009 setup, or
perhaps the download was not complete.
If you didn't do so, I suggest downloading and saving the Express setup onto
your computer before running it.

Thanks,
Benjamin

It's curious, but I can install the MOAP 2008 without problems. Why 2009
version don't?

Well, I've disabled almost all services and auto-initializing softwares for
a clean boot and tried again. Unfortunately got the same error.

Here goes the last lines of the log file, and thank you for your efforts on

Benjamin,

Sorry, but the only section where the words "Product: Microsoft Office
Accounting" appears in the log file is the one I've posted.

I've uploaded the whole file at:
www.viladesign.com.br/microsoft/MBSsetuptmp8.log (500kb)

Thanks,
Sergio.

with the package, or a problem connecting to a domain controller on the

Could you tell me what Operating System you are running? Is it English
based?
Do you have network connection when running setup?

Thanks for your efforts again, Benjamin.

Running XP Home SP3, Brazilian Version.
No network connections other then a active Wi-Fi Internet and a disabled
bluetooth.

I just uninstalled the MOAP2008 and SQL, Enabled ALL services, boot, and
tried to install the 2009 version...unfortunatelly, same error.

Again, the MOAP2008 remains installing with no problems.

Cheers,
Sergio.

Setup ran fine afterwards, and thus far

it doesn??t seem to have affected running the software.

- In 'Access Control' I've changend the 'Connect to registry remotrly'
setting;
- I've verified that only one group was available with full control, so I
pressed 'Add' button;
- In the 'Select User Groups' window, pressed 'Advanced' button and then
'Find Now';
- As I don't understand what is it for, I've selected many of the names in
the list and activated them with full permissions;

Good luck!

In most situations - adding the user 'Authenticated Users' to the
Administrator group, will resolve the issue.

Remove the users, after the install.

I had used vistalizer to change Windows 7 Home Premium x64 from english to spanish and had this problem. It might be an option to change your windows to english, install, switch back.
