We are trying to figure out how EPM calculates EV and are finding
discrepancies when we look at the task sheet. Can someone please let me know
exactly what the calculation is for Budgeted Cost for Work Complete (BCWP)
and Budgeted Cost for Work Scheduled (BCWS).

BCWP = % Complete (or Physical % Complete) X Baseline Cost (as of the Status
Date)
BCWS = Baseline Cost (as of the Status Date)

Most discrepancies that I have seen are caused by:

1) Not setting the baseline
2) Not setting the status date
3) Not sync'ing task progress with resource progress

Does that help? What kind of discrepancies are you observing?

BCWS is based on your cost calculations of your baseline. The program sums
costs of assigned resources (example work hours x rate )

BCWP is based on one of two measures.. actual work or Physical%complete.
For actual work, you enter your actual work for a task and you earn BCWP
based on that cost estimate. For Physical%Complete it is the % you claim x
Budget at Complete
