I have many users who do not have access to project web access. They
do get, however, emails alerting them to changes in their plans that
one manager doesn't want them to get. How do you turn the alert off?
The only way I could see was through individual access to web access -
which they aren't supposed to have!

Thanks.

Hi Naomi,

If your user has an email address assosciated with their resource
account and/or PWA account then they will get alerts and notifications.

You could remove the email address for each user or use the manager's
email address for all of his/her resources ;-)

I'm sure that might change the one manager's mind <g>

Hi

I cam across this problem - the easy fix is to delete the Exchange
Server info in one of the PWA Admin views - make sure you make a note
of what it is (I placed this is a notes area on the same page) incase
you ever want to turn alerts back on.

Hope this helps

This sounds awfully extreme, dangerous. Could you explain what
deleting the Exchange Server info does, exactly? Also, where is it?
Admin is very large and I couldn't find it in a quick search.

My solution basically turns off the email alert function in project web
access/project server.

Go to Admin, Customize PWA, Notifications and reminders.

There you will see SMTP mail server - simply delete whatever is in this
field - I have copied mine into the Default email message as this
doesn't get sent anymore.

Hey Presto - your users will no longer get alerts as PWA cannot send
emails.

If you ever need to have alerts emailed then simply re-enter the SMTP
mail server details and its back on again.

Hope this clarifies my solution - you're not actually deleting the
server or anything just the link that points PWA in the direction of
your mail server!!

So in other words alerts cannot be turned off on a case-by case basis,
which doesn't make sense, because only some people in my company gets
them.

Also, I hesitate to cut off the exchange server info because all of our
resources are defined by their AD identity: all based on their outlook
email.

I'm interested in this too. I have a user, with no credentials for PWA (I
guess he was a team member a long time ago and then they deleted him from all
of the project tasks and from the enterprise resource pool) but he is still
getting notifications six months later.

I don't want to remove the server info because others still need to recieve
their notifications. Any suggestions?

Hi

If the user is still showing up in your "Resources" Summary View - I
suggest you go into Admin area and Clean up Project Server - here you
can delete a resource - this should stop alerts from going through. If
you just want to stop them receiving emails I suggest you edit their
user details and delete their email address from the information listed
- this should stop PS from sending any emails - or you could redirect
to a dummy email address - ProjectServerAdmin etc so that you still see
what is going out.

Hope this helps
