I was just told by Dell that this problem I noticed is a known design flaw.
Has anyone heard of this?

If you have Outlook 2007 and try to use Outlook Express, the spellchecker is
only in French!

Anyone have any ideas for this?

Merci beaucoup!

It is well known.

You no longer have spell checking capabilities in some languages in Outlook
Express 6.0 after you install the 2007 Microsoft Office system:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932974

Office 2007 breaks OE's spell check. Downloading a free spell check is the
simplest way around this.

Vampirefo:

TinySpell:
http://www.tinyspell.m6.net/ (Checks the spelling as you type).

Australian English Spell Check
(Also suitable for other English speaking countries.)

If you have a previous version of Office, see this:

It was a tough decision to make, but I found EXCEL too buggie, so I
uninstalled EXCEL (and Word) 2007, but left Outlook 2007. Strangely, the
problem went away after that. Does that make sense?

It does if you had remnants of an earlier version of Office and have those
proofing tools still in the mix. That's the only way I could explain it.
