Drag'n'dropping attachments soesn't work in Outlook 2003

I am using MS Windows XP Pro SP2 and MS Office 2003. Some time ago I
have noticed that I cannot drag and drop to any Windows Explorer folder
files sent to me as attachments. Still, "Save as" works, but it is very
annoying to save files one-by-one when I get dozen attachments in one
message.
When I try to drag and drop file(s), it doesn't appear in the
destionation folder.
Hope someone has a clue to this problem. I've seen several similar
reports here, but there were no answers. Please help!

I'll be watching with interest to see what suggestions you receive. I
tried a similar question a few months ago and got the suggestion to delete
and then rebuild my profile. I tried it and it didn't work. Thinking
back, I didn't cycle out and then back in top Outlook after deleting my
profile but before rebuilding the same profile. That might have made a
difference. You might try and let us know if it make a difference.
Just curious about something. When I try to drag 'n drop an attachment I
get an error message telling me that I 'out of resources'. If I
acknowledge the dialog and then use the 'paperclip' method to add the file
I get TWO attachments of the same file. I don't get two attachments if I
use just the paperclip method. Do you see the same thing?

I tried deleting the profile; more of that, I have 5 different profiles
- I deleted all of them, and rebuild again. That solution hasn't worked
for me either.
Speaking about the error message you are getting - no, I do not have
any problems with attaching files, only with saving them.
I did some research on solving the problem and here are some tips.
First, the reason why one cannot d'n'd an attachment could be that you
have some resident program that watches the processes running on you PC
and prevents outlook.exe from saving files via d'n'd. I found a
description of such bug here:

I don't have any program of that kind installed though; maybe that will
help you.
What I do now when I get a message with, say, ten pictures is
following: I open a letter in a separate window and choose file - save
attachments. This is better than saving attachments one-by-one but
still is less handy than d'n'd-ing.

Are you trying to d-n-d one attachment or select multiple attachments and
d-n-d them all at once?

fine for a couple of years, then stopped shortly after I installed
Office2003 SP2. I still get the [+] on the pointer when I drag the
attachment files to a desktop location, as if it is planning to copy
them -- but they do not appear at the destination.
This is happening from the preview pane and from a message opened in
its own window. Multiple attachments or single.
Please let me know if you find a solution.

Both. Neither single nor multiple attachments can be d-n-d'ed.

Alas, I cannot duplicate the problem. Perhaps someone else will have a
suggestion.

unregistered. You should run this command:
regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\ole32.dll
I had the same problem with dragging attachments and after registering
the COM server OLE32.DLL everything worked normally.
