This is a Windows setting. The instructions for Windows XP are:
Start>All Programs>Control Panel>Appearance and Themes>Folder Options>File
Types. Select the DOC file type. Click Advanced. Check the box toward the
bottom labeled "Confirm open after download". Click OK, then OK. Close
Control Panel.

I'm having the same problem, running Office 2007 Ultimate and Vista
Ultimate. I've unchecked the always ask box for a specific file type, and
can't get it back. Vista has removed the file types menu.
Can someone please give me some help?

Some thing in Vista Ultimate. Use Control Panel to find the Folder Opttions
applet.

It is on my Vista PC. You're not looking in the correct place, apparently.
