Hi
I have an email account in which I can receive mails, but from which I
cannot send, as I am no longer with that ISP.
I got an incoming mail (via Outlook XP) that requested a read receipt, and I
clicked OK to send the receipt. Now, Outlook tries to send it about once a
minute, but the mail server refuses each time, so Outlook pops up the
Username/Password challenge each time. I keep cancelling but a minute later
it tries again.
Is there any way to cancel the send? The message is not in my Outbox, so I
cannot delete it there. I have had to completely close Outlook as it is
driving me mad!!!!
Thanks.

Hi Moi Un Mouton,

have a look on this site :

"How to Configure Read Receipt for a Message in Outlook"
http://www.nirmaltv.com/2007/07/26/how-to-configure-read-receipt-for-a-message-in-outlook/

Deactivate this "flags" in the described windows.

Maybe it helps.

That won't cancel the receipts as the OP requested.

Hi Robert,

thank you for the correction of my posting.

Dear Moi Un Mouton, sorry for my wrong posting.

This is amazing.

I thought that this tool is only good for deleting inbox rules (kb320022) or
reminders (kb319902).

I will add this site to our german FAQ.

You're welcome.

I can "abuse" this tool for a whole bunch of stuff. It's great fun to work
with as long as you are aware of what you are doing. However, follow the the
guide to the letter and you can't go wrong ;-)

Thanks for the reference! :-)

thanks for this it helped me immensly with the same problem, its crazy though
that you have to go to such effort to delete a stuck read mail receipt, why
can't you just do it from outlook i'll never know. Up here for thinking
microsoft - get your act together. Cheers Gerard.

I found the easiest way is by clicking on tools/ options/ mail setup tab/
edit button. Within the next window there will be your accounts on the left
hand side of the screen. Click on the account you wish to modify then put a
check mark next to or take away a check mark next to "send mail" These
options are available on Outlook '03'

is the isp account still in your profile? if so, change its smtp server to
use a smtp you can send through. See
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/delete_rr.htm for another method.

Why are you responding to a thread that was started AND ANSWERED (by
Roady) over /2 YEARS AGO/ (along with adding nothing for your reply)?
