There seems to be a glitch with Outlook 2007 and I would like to confirm. If
you link a task to a contact in public folders, and open the contact and
click the activities view, it will not show only that contact's tasks, but
shows ALL TASKS. This was not the case in 2003. I find it hard to believe
that a major glitch like this would go unnoticed by MS or other users, so I
am trying to get to the bottom of this. MS will not even talk to me unless I
pay them $250. Anyone else have any experience with this? Here are links to
the only two threads I could find on this issue:

Thanks!

I can't repro it. Can you give exact steps - including examples of how the
contacts are interlinked with each other so we can try to repro it?

Sure, Thanks.

I have one Public Folder called Firm Clients, and one called Firm
Tasks. In Firm tasks I have a long list of recurring annual tasks
that we perform on behalf of our clients. Each task is linked to a
contact that is in the firm clients folder, under the Contacts field
on the bottom of the form. I need to be able to open a contact in the
firm clients folder, click on the activities view, and see just the
tasks that are linked to that client (I think that is the purpose of
the link, right?)

We used this system in OL 2003 for a few years with no problem. Upon
upgrade to OL 2007, this functionality is gone. When you click on the
activities view in a certain contact record in the firm clients
folder, it displays all tasks, not just those linked to that contact.

One interesting thing to note is that I believe that in 2003 that
contact linking was standard on the task form, but in 2007 it is an
option. I believe it was not showing up on the form until I went into
tools/options/preferences/contact options/show contact linking on all
forms. I highly doubt this should impact the functionality though.

This seems to be a pretty basic outlook function and I am amazed there
isn't more talk about it, or that there hasn't been a fix issued by
MS.

Your help would be much appreciated because we will have to go back to
2003 shortly if I can't get to the bottom of it.

Diane, did you have a chance to review this and see if you can
replicate the problem?

Thanks!
