Hey, After Professional Office 2007 expired, I was told to uninstall it...
Which I did without thinking...

I had no other office program installed, and it appears I have lost TONS of
information I had in my system.

I re-installed my 2000 Professional Office, but all that i could retreive is
a contact list, no saved emails etc...

Is there anything I can do here?
Will purchasing the new 2007 retreive this?
and/ or can I download trial and purchase upgrade to get this info back?

I am sorry for all the ?'s but I have lost lots of important business
communication.

The Office 2007 Beta download page
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/getthebeta.mspx clearly
stated, "This beta testing release is not appropriate for production
use". If you lost tons of information and lots of important business
communication, then you obviously ignored the Office 2007 Beta terms of use.

That's sage advice! Never install a MS Beta should have been the
ticket on this one. That program had so many wholes in it, MS should
be ashamed.

An MVP with a sense of humor? Unheard of ! Ok, make me laugh harder. I
want to dump all associated with the Beta Office and restore my
computer to working as well as it did before I tried the lousy Beta...
like I said, make me laugh now. : )

I am the wrong person to ask that question. I was one of the few who tried
warning people about loading the beta on a production system.

I assume you've tried to uninstall it but have run into problems. Have you
asked about those problems here? Patrick Schmid seems to be the "go to" guy
with uninstallation/installation questions.

Hi RMoe,

You can install the Office 2007 release product using the Office 2007 trial edition at http://trymicrosoftoffice.com

Due to updates in the new file formats during the course of the beta, not all of the Beta2 files will open successfully in the
release version.

If you are using the compatability pack to try to open Office 2007 beta 2 files in an earlier Office version You can use the
registry change here to try them (they're blocked by default as they may not come across smoothly).
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926054?fr=1
Unfortunately Word 2007 beta 2 files probably won't be helped by this change.

If you have the Office 2007 Beta 2 downloads still, you should be able to reinstall it, then add the Office 2007 Beta 2 Technical
Refresh update (B2TR) to it (search on B2TR at http://microsoft.com/downloads) and resave your key documents. Office 2007 release
reads the B2TR file formats.

Thanks JoAnn for the assistance. I have not tried others here in fear
of bothering them all, frankly. I'll read up and try my best. BTW, can
you add me to your list of ..."I was one of the few who tried warning
people about loading the beta on a production system", for all future
Beta releases? : )
Thanks.

We all make mistakes. It just takes a big person to say, "You know what? You
were right and I was wrong." Yes, it leaves a nasty taste in one's mouth but
once you do it, you feel liberated." Been there, done that, bought the
mousepad with that printed on it. ;-)

I downloaded the Beta 2. Then uninstalled it in likely, and unethecial
manner. My excel files and word docs won't open again off of my
desktop. I actually like 2007 despite the Outlook being real slow to
open. I'm using XP Home ed. My computer says: I can't uninstall the
beta program via the add/remove. Hence, there must be some registry
settings that are still there? At this point it looks like I have 2
excel programs loaded. The Office 2 beta and my old version of 2003 I
believe. (Memories was a great song too! ) I'm not at that computer
now to visually say more though. And, I appreciate your concern.
Thanks. Can I completely remove the Beta 2 and if so, how? The restore
feature won't do it either at this point. When I look in Add/Remove it
seems to show that the Beta 2 is still there but unable to remove.

The manual removal steps are the only way to get rid of it then:
