I am having the same problem - can't find internet connection. I've removed
other "networking" connections (such as vmware), hard-coded the ip values
(including the dns numbers) and still no success. The "activation" is
definitely broken at this point, as far as I'm concerned. I've even gone so
far as to go into IE and tell it explicitly that my internet is via an
always-on connection etc.

I'm getting a message that they're doing maintenance on the system, so maybe
things will straighten up shortly. It would help, however, if they'd include
the phone option on the registration application.

I have tried numerous times with no results. Disable your firewall and you
will get the message that the activiation server is down (something to that
effect). I have only 48 more tries left. I hope they get it activated soon.

I did get to authenticate it once in the morning, like 11am AEST (australian
time), but after an hour or two, i tried to authenticating office on my other
machines all failed on internet connection. Seems like everyone is hammering
the servers which brought it down, or maintenance. I monitored the packets
and it is getting acknowledged, but else its down.

I've got the same problem! I have very fast internet broadband, access to
internet is fine, but the same activation problem comes up! Doesn't help that
we can't report the problem to them either, so far I cannot find any support
emails or tel numbers for office 2007! Wish I was one of the lucky testers
who MANAGED to activate their products :o( How long do you think it'll be
before we can activate our products? And how do we know anyone is on the case
in sorting out the problem?

What if microsoft only gave us 50 odd tries to use the product?? It is only a

before??

but what use is the public beta if no one is able to use it! I'm only hoping
that for any of us who run out of uses of the suite, activating it will let
us use it again!

I'm unable to activate my copy of Office 2007 Beta 2 either. I have contacted
Technical Support and Product Activation Support only to be thrown about -
seems their front-line staff have completely no idea.

My friends in Microsoft said that they could activate it when they received
the same release 1 week ago - looks like it's possibly overwhelmed by the
traffic they got. Just have to wait for now I guess. Can anyone post a reply
when you manage to activate this product?

Same problem as everyone else, no internet connection detected. Got this on
twp machines. I kept trying to get it to activate though and every once in a
while the error would change to either a connection error (not no connection
detected) or that the server was down for maintenance. Hopefully this will
get resolved soon.

destruction of existing data.
e.. This beta testing release is not appropriate for production use.
f.. It is strongly recommended that you back up your existing data
before you install and run this software.
g.. Beta code is offered "as is," and does not include technical
support.

software installation on company-owned computers. Make sure you check with
your IT department before downloading and installing 2007 Microsoft Office
system Beta 2 on your computer at work.

Too bad I uninstalled my 2003 to install this. 50 use limit is soon

The purpose of releasing BETA software is to get INPUT from users to improve
and or work out the bugs... So if they don't visit public beta uers groups,
how do they know if there are still problems??? Why release beta versions
for public testing if your not going to listen to the problems and help
people work them out? Your response was good, but really didn't anser any
questions....and missed the point. Micrsoft has to aware of this problem,
but for whatever reason is choosing not to respon to us. I have 35 uses left

Did you have to change any settings or anything?

If we have already registered the product, will they nofity us when they have
fixed this activation problem? I would be satisfied with just a telephone
activation number but I would like to be notified when the problem is fixed.

They know. They're working on the German version download -- try it again in
a few hours. I'd give it 8-10 hours to be on the safe side.

They also know about the activation issues. They're working on it.

No.

Same here... with the activation error.

I did email the MS Care Team
(MicrosoftOf...@one.microsoft.upgrade.com) and they replied asking
me to describe the problem and/or send them screenshots of the issue (which I
did.) They said they would get back to me in 24 hours.

We'll see what they say.

I'm also having trouble. Hope this gets fixed soon. I don't want to
have to go find my 2003 CD again.

I wouldn't count on being personally notified by email or anything. You
never know, it might happen -- but I wouldn't expect it to.

You can always use the system restore and go back to the previous day, before
you uploaded MSOFC2007.

I too have also e-mailed the team with details and a screen shot to see what
can be done.

WOW... Over 85 posts... Think anyone at Microsoft has noticed that this
ENTIRE NEWGROUP is full of nothing but activation problems? C'mon, restart
your server already!

I'm sure they are working on it too. However, would it hurt someone
from the MS team to issue a brief notice that at least acknowledges the
issue on their end? If they plan on posting some form of notice, they
must be typing it out with their toes.

What is the email address we can complain to? It's a crazy idea, but
perhaps it can be suggested that if they want the product evaluated and
tested, it might just help if we could access it.

I still can't activate, tried all day and no luck. We need to make this
problem more visible. I don't see this exposed on the majors news internet
sites, like theregister, inquire, neowin, etc...
Please make noise....

Anyone able to activate on 05-24? The only successful activations seem to
have taken place yesterday. Running out of my 50 here. Getting scared as I
uninstalled 2003.

Nice idea; but I think "Beta 2" is more about creating a market hook then
about testing... or, maybe not.
