Hi

Recently I bought an SSD, and over the last weeks wondered where my free
space had gone.
turns out that WMP12 was the cause. Here's what i found.

The drive is 160GB (148GB actual size)
I opened a dosbox in admin mode, then typed "dir * /s" revealed that there
was 40GB freespace and 30 GB in use. 40+30 = 70 GB while the drive has 148GB
a 78 GB was unaccounted for.
I got a copy of TreeSize Pro from work, installed it and ran it as admin.
and it showed the problem;

C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media
Player\Art Cache\LocalMLS
had 2,113,296 files , using 76.8 GB of album art!?

I do not use WMP (because it changes my precious collection with lesser
quality album art etc), why WMP12 decides to fill my 400$ SSD with data i
dont want is a mistery to me.

To remove the directory I browsed to the directory, right clck LocalMLS and
press shift while choosing delete, resolved the issue (although it took 30
minutes to delete even on SSD :) it saved up 78GB of space.
It occured to me some weeks ago the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing
Service" actually did use alot of resources (in taskmanager it used 1GB of
memory). so i disabled it. i dont know if this service fills this directory,
i'll keep in eye on it.

regards,
Sander
