Hi Folks,

I'm having a problem that started up after playing with security settings in
IE browser. I couldn't log into hotmail because it uses Java Script. After
unchecking this and that and nothing worked, I reset defaults. (I have XP
with SP2 and IE 6 and office software).

The problem changed to the entire right side of the MSN
homepage being blank and thus I can't sign into hotmail as none of those
links are there.
I close my browser and go back and the page was all there. Go to
another site, and then click on my homepage and the right side is blank
again, and of course, no hotmail link.
Closed my browser several times and went to back and it began to take
forever to download ( I have a broadband connection) and still the same
problem with the right side of the page being blank and no hotmail links,
etc.

What could be going on? I had problems with the homepage before I
reformatted last week and re-installed everything.
That problem was the home page would take forever to download and I would
have to click on a link in my favorites file and then click on my homepage
link and I the page would download as normal.

After my re-install, the first time I got back on the internet I noticed how
quickly the
page was downloading and it has been fine until the I messed with those
security settings on the browser.

Now, I'm wondering if anyone else is having problems with the homepage or
even better, does anyone have an idea as it doesn't happen on any other
links I travel to daily, just my MS homepage, using my MS IE, with my
computer using Windows XP and loaded with bunch of other MS STUFF. :-)

I did have firefox before re-formatting and tested the homepage with that
and it would load quickly. I have not reinstalled firefox since
re-formatting, I may to see if it loads all the page.

I like my IE. I don't want to use something else. I am frustrated right now
and I want to send an error report so someone gets ZAPPED. (You have to
have seen the video.) As I want someone to at MS to feel my pain.

All joking aside, the problem can't be because of me messing with the
settings
as they are all restored.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you take care of /everything/ on the following 2 pages before otherwise
connecting to the internet to surf?

IE Tools > Internet Options > Security > Select 'Internet' and all other
zones, in turn > Click on 'Default Level'.

Thank you PA Bear, I have a worse problem now after updating Windows. I
didn't mean to let it install the video driver and sure enough, after
restart, black screen. I went to safe mode and rolled back the driver and
here I am.
I can't believe i knew what the problem was.

NOW, I must rid myself of that driver so Windows does not try to install it
behind my back. You know how Windows has a mind of its own and she's abit of
a domitrix I'm sure.

:-)

Experienced users will /never/ download/install driver or non-MS software
updates offered at Windows Update, Pike. Rolling back to the previous
driver shouldn't be much of a problem.

Hey! What are you trying to say, PA bear?

haha.

Things are up and working fine after rolling back the driver. I've rebooted
a couple of times, ran scan disk and defrag for good measure.

Thanks for your help
