The most common reason for this is that you are trying to install the tool from
a limited User account in Windows. Apparently, it still requires your user
account to have Administrative rights to install it.

Thank you, but I am the admin. After further investigation I have found that
I am having the same "Loading. . . " problem with anything I try to install
through ActiveX. My computer was just "fixed" by a friend of mine because I
was having other problems. I'm guessing that I might be missing something
needed to load programs using ActiveX or that I might have a setting wrong. .
. .Any thoughts?

Thank you for your help.

You might consider taking the pc to another, and hopefully more reputable source.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and click the button
for Restore Advanced Settings. Also, go to the Security tab and click the option
to reset Security to defaults.
Try again.

They should upgrade. :-)
In my haste, I decided to provide the instructions for IE7 and deal with IE6 or
other browser later, if needed.

email, it says I have a new format in the folder and a converter is
downloading...no it's not! this is maddening.

You are in a public news group where answers are provided by non Microsoft personnel.
Printer manufacturers are responsible for drivers. Drivers are not updated for later operating systems to enable them to sell you
another printer.

As far as that 200 bucks

Then get in line behind the folks waiting for refunds on hardware that
didn't work with XP.
