Hi,
I'm wondering whether it's possible to create new font themes (that is, the set of Body + Heading fonts)? It seems (from Googling) that it's possible in Word 2007, but I can't find it in 2008. I have some fonts - that aren't in any of the provided themes - that I'd like to use, and to set as a theme, both for general use, and for some templates I'm making.
It's a compressed XML file. Go to /Applications/Microsoft Office
2008/Office/Media/Templates/Office Themes/ and copy one into a different
folder.
Change the extension to .zip and open it with the BOM Archive application to
unzip it.
Have a look for a file named "Theme.xml" in the Theme folder, and open it in
TextEdit.
Enjoy.

Thanks for you help.I managed to open the theme and edit it; I also made an attempt by copying and editing one of the ThemeName.xml (e.g. Folio.xml) files in Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/Media/Templates/Office Themes/Theme Fonts. Unfortunately, with both attempts, I was unable to coax Word (or any Office application) into accepting it, whatever changes I made in the file extension, which application to open in, etc. With the .thmx I tried both by compressing it again, and by using the uncompressed folder. If I try to force Word to open either the .thmx or the .xml, I get an error message (see below).
The only things I changed in both instances were the theme name and the latin script majorfont and minorfont font names.
I realise I might be moving into more general Mac help territory, but if you can help, I'd be grateful.
Error message: 'Cannot open theme file. The selected file might be damaged or incomplete.' [Before I played around with extensions etc. I believe the error message told me the file wasn't a theme file.]
Thanks again!
Toby
I am soooo sorry. I was answering in a hurry, and I left of the magic
incantation: "If you open a zipped XML file on a Mac, you MUST remove the
resource fork from the package when you put it back together again."
The XML applications are not expecting the resource fork, and they see it as
a damaged file.
Cheers
