I'm using Office 2004 (PowerPoint 11.2.0) on a 15" Powerbook with OS 10.4.4.
All characters equation objects embedded in a presentation created on a
windows machine show up as black rectangles. By double-clicking on the
object, I can see the symbols within equation editor, but they are not
legible from within PowerPoint. Equations that I create on the Mac show up
fine. Fiddling with grayscale options makes no difference in my ability to
read equations. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Hi,

At the moment there is no cure for the problem. Microsoft knows about.

Be sure to turn on a schedule in the Downloads and Updates section of
the Help menu so that in case a new update becomes available you will
know right away.

I tried to copy some equations made on my Mac by LaTeX Equation Editor
from a Keynote presentation (v1), which are pdfs, and the same thing
happened. So it's not just a Windows-to-Mac problem.

Hello,

Can you try going to System Preferences > Appearance > Font smoothing style
and changing the style to "Standard"? If PowerPoint is already running,
quit and restart PowerPoint.

Please reply back as to whether this helps for you. If it does, I'd be
curious to know what the setting was previously.

Thanks,
Andrew
