Tiger and PowerPoint 2004 Slide Shows: Sluggish response of animated objectse

Since installing Tiger (OS 10.4.2) I have observed that the animations
in PowerPoint (Office 2004) presentations prepared with OS 10.3 now
develop very slowly. In the case of successive images which in 10.3
appeared and disappeared so as to give a "movie" effect, some of the
images of a given slide are now bypassed. Those that do appear, appear
haltingly and sluggishly. What were exciting diplays under 10.3 are now
annoyingly slow and even incomplete with 10.4. I use a "Titanium" G4
laptop 400 MHz, 256 MB SDRAM, 56GB hard drive.
