Other strange goings on:
If I choose "Projects", the large window showing the names of the
projects has each project in the color that it was assigned. However,
in the small panel on the left, the projects in the heirarchial menu
are not colored (before they were).
Can someone please help?????
I rebuilt my Entourage database - but the problem persists.
I've tried repairing permissions, running maintenance scripts using
Tiger Cache Cleaner, but no avail.
This is bad news, since I use the project color coding to organize my
emails all the time.
There's also an annoying change in the way the pull down menu to move
messages to a folder is displayed. The quick menu now adds the phrase
"(on this computer)" to every folder making it even harder than it was
before to locate the folder I want to move the message into. I
understand that this is probably because they've added more remote
capacities for managing other's e-mail, but it would be better to have
some color coding or other preference options to control the pull down
menu display to various folders.
I also downloaded the Mac Security Update 2005-008 (Mac OS X 10.3.9) at
the same time as SP2. I'm not savy enough about OSX and MSOffice to
know for certain whether the Secuirty Update could be a factor in these
changes, but I tend to doubt it.
I rebuilt permissions which had no effect on the display changes in
Calendar.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to inform MS about these
issues or any suggestions of how to restore these display functions in
Entourage?

Count me in, too! I noticed the "DOT" problem shortly after upgrading
the recent Mac updates -- the secuity update included. I don't know if
there's a correlation or not--
I'm with you all in that I find the "DOT" an invaluable tool and am
experience some trauma over its loss.
Any Remedies?
John
there's a correlation or not--
BTW--I'M STILL RUNNING SP1 OF MICROSOFT OFFICE FOR MAC
So the conflict must reside with one of the recent updates for Mac.
John
As the original poster, I can say that I first upgraded to SP2 and had
the dots. Then, after the recent security update, I lost them.
ALTHOUGH, I cannot say that I lost them immediately. If memory serves
me correctly, I had the dots even after the update. However, I did have
a system freeze sometime thereafter and after rebooting, I noticed the
dots gone.
JohnnyO's comment still running SP1 seems to implicate the Mac Security
upgrade. Sounds like it's time to look or cross post on some of the Mac
OS blogs.
You can rest assured that Microsoft will be contacting Apple directly to
report the problem and get it solved in another OS update. (Or if there's in
fact something that Entourage is doing that only revealed a problem with the
OS update, that an Entourage update can help with putting right.) It was one
of the MacBU staff here who first asked whether it was the OS update today
that did had made the difference - he knew already and was asking for
confirmation. They'll be working together on it. That will be a lot more
effective, you know.

It "relates" to the Security Update by having been created by it. It has
nothing to do with the SP 2 Office update, which just happened to come out
the same week. People who applied the Security Update and are still in SP 1
have the same problem, whereas people (like me) who have SP 2 but did not
apply the Security Update have no project dot problems.
SO HOW DO I GET MY DOTS BACK?
Add me to list of dotless entourage users (DEU).
What is the fix?
I'm on on 2004 Office/ Mac X 10.4.2.
Thanks,
Dave
Hopefully it'll get fixed in the next releases.

SP1 users who have applied security update 2005-008 have lost their dots.
SP2 users who have not applied security update 2005-008 still have their
dots.
The only 'fix' is to regress the OS to a state before 2005-008, or to wait
for apple to bring out an update to fix the problem.
FWIW, the security update also caused similar types of display glitch in
Filemaker and Snapz Pro. It's Apple's problem, not MS's.

Do an Archive & Install of your OS (Panther or Tiger), use Software Update
to update to 10.3.9 or 10.4.2 and other updates, but NOT Security Update
2005-008. Or wait until Apple releases a fix.
I need my dots!!

Anyway - there is a positive answer now. Apple has released a fix: update to
OD 10.4.3 and you'll have your Project dots back.

Ah. AFAIK, Apple isn't planning to release any more OS updates for Panther,
so I imagine they might roll in the fix the next time they do a new security
update for Panther. (I wasn't even aware that 2005-008 Security Update was
for Panther as well, but I guess you're saying it was?) There's no telling
when that might be, but it's not usually _too_ long between Security
Updates.
