Agh! Entourage hotmail problems

Alrighty, so about 3 weeks ago Entourage started stealing messages from
the hotmail server. This made the number of messages in my folder look
like this:

Folder on my comp (1000 messages)
Hotmail (800 messages)

In an effort to rectify this, I found the mvps site. Here was their
advice:

To right-click the hotmail folder and clear the cache, then tell it to
refresh the message list.

It said this would make it so that my hotmail folder and message list
would match up again.

So I tried this, and all it's done is...make copies of every message in
my folder! So Here's the situation

Folder on my comp (2000 messages)
Hotmail folder (800)

How do I get rid of all these extras without getting rid of the e-mails
that Entourage has been lifting directly from hotmail? And how do I get
it to stop lifting things from the hotmail server?
