Just realized I may have posted this in the wrong group.... Here it is to
the entourage group:

I have been using office 2008 except Entourage waiting for some down time at
work and time to clean up my email accounts before switching over to
Entourage 2008.

Word and Powerpoint 2008 are working very well on my Powerbook G4.

QUESTION: inadvertently I opened Entourage before I was ready to switch over
from 2004 so I just closed it without doing anything. Now I would like to do
the switch but an identity (empty) is already created. What I wanted to do
was go through the setup using the wizard, transferring my 2004 identity at
start up.

1) Is there a way to reset Entourage 2008 so I can start it up and go
through the process? Can I perhaps delete the current 2008 identity and will
that cause it to need to set up a new one? I understand when I do it this
way 2008 then uses all the account information to set up without needing to
re-enter account info, etc.

2) I know I can import the identity using the import function. I've also
heard from reading widely in the forums that has a tendency to cause more
problems. It means having to merge two identities which seems to introduce
one more step that might cause glitches -- but maybe it would be easier than
trying to go back to square one?

Advice welcome,
Rick

Quit any open Office applications, then open Activity Monitor and quit a
process called Microsoft Database Daemon. You can then delete the Office
2008 Identities folder inside ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data. The next time
Entourage is launched, it won't find an identity to open, so it will display
the dialogue. However, see the next answer before doing this.

Use the Import function. It is the same mechanism that is used when
Entourage is launched for the first time. There is absolutely no need to
merge two identities in this case; your Entourage 2004 database will simply
be imported into the Entourage 2008 database.

Much thanks Michael. I'll use the second approach.

Sorry for the double post.
Rick

The second procedure seems to have worked seamlessly, at least so far. The
only thing I've noticed is that when I open a message the text does not seem
to wrap properly, but when I resize the window it seems to solve the
problem. I'll look around in the settings and see if there needs to be an
adjustment.

Cheers,
Rick

There is no setting. Simply set the Entourage window to the size you want.
Click on the red close button. Under File --> New Message open a new window.
The Finder should remember the size you selected. Sometimes this is a bit
finicky.
