I just created several new categories in Entourage (v.X with the
service release). Now my categories don't match up. When I filter them
the wrong ones show up in the list even though they are assiged to the
right category (for instance my "school" items show up when I set the
filter to "work". Also, not all of the categories show up in the
filter list, just the first few I added. Is there a limit? How do I
work around this issue?
Thanks

Time to do a Typical Rebuild. You have mild database corruption/ I think a
Typical should be able to fix this - if not go back and do an Advanced.

How many categories?

I haven't doen a rebuild yet, but i solvled the problem by quitting
the ap and then reopening it; the categories then matched. With the
existing and created categories I have 16 total, started noticing
problems with the 15th one.
Thanks, I'll remember to rebuild when I have issues.

I would advise doing a rebuild now.

If the indexing became confused, even temporarily, it is possible/likely
that incorrect links between items may have been formed while it was in the
confused state.

A simple rebuild will not cause any loss of data, and is worth doing 'just
in case'.

Sorry for the omission. I'm using Entourage X, Jaguar. Office update is
installed. All software is up to date on an iBook w/Palm Zire.

Like I said, if there is anything further that I can try to get categories
to sync, let me know. Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I did a typical rebuild. Didn't work. I did an
advanced rebuild. Didn't work. I eliminated over half my categories, (had
16, now have 7). Didn't work. I fixed all the categories in Entourage and
tried to then sync. Didn't work.

It would be really helpful if this feature / part of hot sync procedure
worked. If there is anything else I can do, please post suggestions.

This problem started just a few days ago. So, it worked for a while, then
didn't. I can't pin it on any one thing. I did increase the number of
categories I was using just before the problem started. But, reducing the
categories and doing the rebuilds didn't fix the problem. I still can't sync
categories.
