when i moved to vista windows mail from xp outlook express, I combined 3
identities address books. I made contact folders for each one. However,
when I try to select recipients the total contact list appears. Is there a
way to just bring up the contact folder I need when creating emails?

thanks

Nope, it's one of Windows Mail's many shortcomings, Gene.

Windows Live Mail (yes, the names are confusing) does include Contact Groups
(AKA mailing lists): http://download.live.com/wlmail

Windows Mail questions should be posted in the Windows Mail newsgroup:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail
or via your news reader: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

Windows Mail ignores folders in Contacts. It uses Groups instead.

@Gary: See Replies #2 & #3 here:

Newserver was still acting wonky over the weekend; Somehow our crossposted
replies never showed up in Vista Mail newsgroup.
