Wrong symbols for bullets on bulleted list

I am getting weird symbols for the bullets on bulleted lists in
Internet Explorer 4.01. First level items have a lamda symbol
(Greek letter) instead of the black dot normally seen (it shows
correctly in Netscape). Did I mess up the settings somehow?
The character set is set on Western, with Times New Roman
for proportional font and Courier New as fixed width.
