I am currently working with data that I exported from Intuit Quicken to
Excel. I was using a budget report that show all cash outflows as
negative numbers.

But I want to show these as positive numbers. I was wondering if there
were some technique for turning negative numbers into their positive
equivalents using a search and replace or any other technique that would
not involve individually changing each cell.

If you multiply each cell by -1 it will change negative numbers to
positive (and positive to negative). To do this in one operation,
enter -1 into a blank cell somewhere. Select that cell and click
<copy>. Move the cursor to where your negative numbers are, and
highlight all the negative numbers in your range. Then right-click and
choose Paste Special, then Values (check) | Multiply (check) | OK then
<Esc>.

All done - you can remove the -1 from the original cell.

Hope this helps.
