Look for [Group] in the title bar.
If you do, then ungroup them.

If the workbook is shared Autofilter would be available and Advanced would be
grayed-out.

Maybe they wanted to disable the autofilter and never re-enabled it.
You could try:
Tools|Customize|toolbars tab|Select worksheet menu bar
and click Reset
You will lose any other customized changes you've made to that toolbar, though.
