I am trying to solve an issue with Excel where when text is copied Excel
closes unexpectedly. So far it has been traced to the default printer HP
9000 series. Has anyone encountered a similar issue and come with a fix
other than changing the default printer? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Excel like most (all?) windows programs uses the printer driver to determine how
to display the data.

If you haven't installed a fresh version of the printer driver from HP.com, I'd
try that.

Dave - thanks for your reply. I've tried that and it still acts the same.
We've tried the latest version and the plain vanilla 9000 version of the
driver and it still happens. Thanks.

I have experienced a similar problem
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.excel.misc/browse_thread/thread/dc5b1fb7307342d8
but Excel seems to close when I then open Word. My default printer is a
Canon ir5000-6000 PS3 high speed multi-function Post Script printer, which
suggests that the printer driver may not be the culprit.

I am using Office 2003 SP2 under Win XP Pro SP2 on an HP T5600 Centrino Duo
laptop. What about you?
