Does anyone know if it is possible to widen the drop-down
list from the name box in the formula bar in Excel 2002.
I would like to be able to view the entire name of my
defined names.
TIA

someone in my office got it from chip pearson's site (www.cpearson.com) and
put it on our server for all to use, however, i can't seem to find it on the
site. it's a dll file called (appropriately) NameBoxResizer.

if i can find the direct link i'll send it, i will not post the file to the
newsgroup though.

Robert Gelb's NameBoxResizer:

http://www.vbrad.com/pf.asp?p=Source/src_xl_nb_addin.htm

(for xl2k and above, but there's a link that points to an xl97 version)

Have a look at the name Navigator in Navigator Utilities at www.robbo.com.au
It not only lists the names, but allows you edit the names, make them local,
hide them, etc.
It also lists all the cells which use the name!!! Have a look. Free
download

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took their
valuable time to respond to my post. I know you guys all
have lives and jobs and you don't have to do this. I
don't know how often people acknowledge that fact or take
the time to thank you. So, THANK YOU! I am trying out
your suggestions and anticipate great results. This is
the first time I've tried posting a problem in the
Newsgroup for xl. I intend to come back if for nothing
else than to learn new stuff from you all.

That's a very good idea. I feel like I've learnt more here in the last
five weeks than in the previous five years! Have a go at solving the
problems before you read any answers... (-:
