Hi everybody,

I am a MCA fresher with no experience from India.

I have done a 122 hours duration course of Building .NET Applications & Web
Services that covered VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, XML & Web Services from NIIT, New
Delhi in India.

Now, I want to earn MCAD certification provided by Microsoft. Before going
further, I have the following queries which I want to clear:

1. Is my eligibility matching to MCAD requirements? Is experience necessary?

2. What’s the best available training for MCAD from your view in India?

3. What’s the total fee for the MCAD?

4. I am looking for exams 70-305, 70-306 & 70-310. Are they fulfilling the
certification requirements?

5. When will be the results of each exam declared?

6. What is Adaptive Testing Technology & Simulation Items? Which exams might
include the same?

7. Is MCAD only enough to get a first-class job in the Indian IT market or I
will have to prepare myself for other kind of stuff also i.e. Aptitude Test &
Technical Test for getting absorbed into companies.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Sandeep Goel

Hi Sandeep,

I have done the same NIIT course. ;-) Although it didn't take 122 hrs,
it took more like 9 months. At present, I'm an MCSD.

1. There is no eligibility and no experience required. You could be in
Kindergarten and still be eligible. (But you'd have to be a child
prodigy for that !)

2. Best training in India - Self training. All the institutes are just
making money by fooling everyone. They're not interested in teaching
you anything. (In my opinion)

3. Well, exam fees can vary according to current exchange rates, and
discount schemes. NIIT has a tie-up with Prometric, and you can contact
them to get the latest info.

4. Yes, these fulfil the exam requirements. See
<http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcad/requirements.asp> for
information.

5. Results are immediate. You will recieve the Result sheet before
leaving the test center.

6. Google for "Adaptive Testing". Any exam might include the same.

7. No, it is not enough. Companies are still going to expect you to be
experienced and *very* skilled. Prepare yourself as well as you can.
Keep in mind, that there are tons of MCAD's in the Indian IT market,
most of them having experience. You're competing against them.

Finally, only one thing :

My philosophy during my preparation was to learn as much as possible,
not just to pass the exams. My experience is that the NIIT course
teaches you hardly anything, even if you worked extra hard during the
course.

Regards,

Cerebrus.

Hi Sir,

That’s so kind of you getting all the queries sort out. I would definitely
follow your saying but, one thing sir I want to be clear about that from now
when I have no experience, what I have to do exactly apart from getting MCAD.

Again, thanks for your valuable advice.

Sincerely,

Sandeep Goel

It is my belief that SKILL in generous quantities is a viable
substitute for work experience. Keep in mind that many of the
experienced folks don't know the concepts behind most processes. They
don't know the most efficient way to do a particular thing. Many times,
they just know how to get the job done, and that's it. If you can be
better than these people, you stand a chance.

The other option might be to gain experience from somewhere. Maybe a
small firm.

And you're welcome.

Regards,

Cerebrus.

Respected Sir,

I am feeling happy & obliged once again with your guidance. My mind still
desire for more from you which is the following:

1. What is the meaning of Inter-ship and Apprenticeship? Do they mean by
training? If yes would it be useful to me in the context of real job
experience?

2. Which is the language of future between C# & VB.NET? Please elaborate
your view on it.

3. I am planning to pursue MCAD going to take exams 70-305, 70-310, 70-229.
Will that combination click? What’s your thinking?

4. Want to do clear exam 70-229 first, then 70-305. Is that right? What
should be the right order in giving the exams for my combination?

5. Which is the best book(s) to prepare for each of these exams? Are there
Kalani’s books from Que Publishing available for these exams using VB.NET?
After getting books, what should be the ideal time limit for best preparation
of each of these exams?

6. How many chances Microsoft will give to me in order to be a MCAD?

7. What’s the type of questions in each of these exams – all practical
(design, coding, testing, deployment) or practical-theory mixed? Total no. of
questions? Total time? Are all answers in multiple-choice format?

8. Keeping in mind your experience, please tell me what is what I must do to
be a MCAD. What you did?

9. What do you think about my English language? I feel that it is not good.
Can you please tell me how to learn to write & especially speak English in a
simple & powerful way. What I must do to improve my communication skills to
the best? Is there any special book or course for the same?

Please don’t mind for asking too many questions. Their answers are very
important to me. I hope you will understand my situation.

Thank you for your time

Sincerely,

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,

Firstly, no need to call me "Sir". Am a regular guy, just like you.

Secondly, since some these questions are just related to your specific
case and are personal in nature, I think it would be preferable if you
email me with these and any other queries you might have. Some of the
other questions are VERY commonly asked on these forums and a little
search on Google groups will reveal the answer. My email address is in
my profile.

Lastly, if you *do* email me, then post a message here, mentioning that
you have done so. I don't check that email account regularly, since
it's bait for the spammers.
