Hello:

I have a problem when I try to import a Paradox 4.5 for Dos table to
Access8.0. It display the error message like "Incorrect collating sequence"
when i try to import it.

Does Access 8.0 support to import to import Paradox 4.5 for Dos table?

If u have any idea, please mail me p...@glink.net.hk

Thanks you

Hi Patrick,

I have been able to import from Paradox 4.5 for DOS to Access 8.0 (97), but
it's not been all that reliable for me.

It's just a guess, but do you know what version of the Jet desktop ODBC
drivers you have installed? I am able to import Paradox tables into Access
using machines that still have the 3.5x drivers installed (the ones that
ship with Office 97-we're using SR-2 ), but not with machines with the 4.x
drivers (I've tried the ones shipped with SQL 7 and MDAC 2.1, including the
new general release version of MDAC). It's not the same error message
you're reporting (I get 'Table is in an unexpected format'), but it might be
a similar underlying problem.

Shannon

All I have for you is a work around.

Check the file types Paradox allows for export and the possible types of
import files for Access. Once you have found one in common to both, export
from Paradox to that format and pick that file up and bring it into Access.
It's not the most elegant but I've never been stumped pulling data from one
app to another with it.

Hi Schmidt!

Actually, in the Office 97 CD you can import extra table import types,
including Paradox. They are *not* put in when you set up Office 97 in the
standard manner. When I manually added the Paradox formats, I had no problem
importing my Paradox 4.01 Dos database.
