Dear Mr. Singh,

Mr Prem Nautiyal had provided  very detailed guidelines on ESSC. The following documents definitely would be of interest to you. From my past experiences in application of ESSC, I have noted that it works extremely well with Magnetic oscillation especially with wider ( 5 inch) strips. The same may not be true with smaller strips, however would definitely be worth considering.

The last article is a good description on various pros and cons of this process.

Thanks.

Dear Mr.Amarjit Singh

I am assuming that you are using ESW (2 layers ) and not ESW(single layer ) OR ESW (high speed).

I strongly recommend that you use Soudokay consumables for ESSC.
Please visit www.soudokay.com for more details and in India you can get these consumables from Bohler Welding group.

The type of strip for 347 deposit is Soudotape 21.11 LNB and flux Record EST122.

Now coming to welding parameters for ESSC of 60 X 0.5mm strip :

1) current =1250A ( DCEP)
2) 24V ( voltage is governed by flux used and must be maintained within +/- 1V ).
3) Travel speed = 170mm/min
4) Bead thickness = 5mm ( less bead thickness will give poor bead shape and high dilution, while higher thickness greater than 5.5mm will give LOF at the overlaps )
5) Dilution % = 8-10%
6) Stickout = 25-30mm ( distance between strip end to contact shoe)Note that dilution reduces with increased stickout.
7) Bead overlap : 5-10mm.

Prem Nautiyal

I have to carry out ESSC of SS 347 on CS with 60mm wide strips. Please suggest

1) suitable consumable combination
2) parameter for welding
