osmosis fails on linux: Thread for task 1-rx failed

Hi I'm trying to run osmosis on linux and I am having some problems that I'm not sure how to address. I've read through some other threads and some mentioned about using the wrong version, and some mentioned about not putting the right jar files in. I'm really confused and I hope someone can prod me into the right direction.

IIRC you should run the 0.3.0 downloadable mapwriter with osmosis <= 0.4

If you build the mapfilewriter module yourself from the current head, you can use 0.4.1 and higher.
