Hello,
Is it possible to query the database planet.osm?

The idea is to launch a consultation on the database but not to paint the maps, but to see what information is on a subject and then use this information.

example:

See how many castles are in one area and then mark them on the map and click upon the information on this.

http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/1242347292

thank you very much

With the information you're providing it is hard to answer it. What do you want to do?
What do you mean with 'querying' planet.osm? Pure xml data cannot be rendered on the fly.

Peter.

if you are looking for an online service then I would recommend to
look at Overpass-API.

Hi,
I guess this is not the right place to discuss your issue as this list
is concerned with mapsforge specific development. I would suggest that
you browse the OpenStreetMap wiki for applications targeting your
problem. My hints are Overpass-API for querying planet.osm, maybe
MapQuest for routing and Nominatim as geocoder. When you have your
route and POIs together you can ask here how to show them on the map
:)

Hannes

Ok thanks for the info.

The truth is that I did not know if the library itself allowed to consult mapsforge nodes.
