I was suffering from Allergic Rhinitis (frequent episodes of sneezing,
watery eyes and nose, itchy nose, eyes, palate, throat) since 1982(Age
10). I've a family history of atopy(allergy).

This was too severe by about 1991, when I got myself checked by our
ENT departments' HOD(SSG Hospital, Baroda) and she did a rhinoscopy to
find out polyps. She advised polypectomy. During holidays I went to my
native, where doctors were not too keen on surgery as the allergy part
of the problem could not be addressed. Removing polyps n correcting
deviated septum might give about 20-30% symptomatic relief. So, we
decided on conservative management.
So, I used to avoid dust-smoke, cold foods-drinks, kept myself warm
and on a few occasions took antihistaminics.

By around mid 2005, my nose block was almost always evident. In Nov
2005 the ENT specialist checked me and was shocked to see the extent
of mucosal hypertrophy and told me to go for the surgery as soon as
possible. It was must and inevitable as they said.
However I was skeptical about this one as the allergy would still be
there. Allergy could only be corrected through natural way.

Since 1st April 2006, I started Pranayam and attended Mr Manas Maral's
classes in Nagarjuna Green Ridge. Since then I am regularly doing
Pranayam. Initially I could not even do Anulom-Vilom due to complete
nose block and mostly depended on Kapalbhati. Slowly situation
improved and within 6 months I was much better. Now, it is more than a
year and I am perfectly fine. I would advise all the people to follow
Yog and Pranayam taught by Mr Manas, especially children to avoid
these allergy related problems, which are increasing globally and more
so in Bangalore.

Nowadays, this is seen more among children with around 30% of children
being affected by these respiratory ailments. My parents have
benefited tremendously by doing pranayam,i.e. hyperacidity, insomnia,
severe allergic dermatitis. Even my husband is very regular at this
and finds it very effective for minor stomach upsets and constipation.
Even if you are in perfect health, this is going to increase your
efficiency, alertness and capacity overall fitness.

My sincere request to all the parents to take out about 30 minutes
every morning to do these breathing exercises. Childern do what
parents do and not what they advise. At some point of time, child may
start doing this and that will be the best foundation you may provide
for his/her health.
