SMTP fails with 1and1

Hello Everyone

Well I am winning in general and have come a long way since a week
ago. Now all there is between me and running MailPress is that SMTP
Fails on Test.

I contacted 1and and this was there reply:


Thank you for contacting us.

These are the correct settings on the email client.


imap : imap.1and1.co.uk (IMAP setup)
pop: pop.1and1.co.uk (POP setup)
SMTP Server: auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk
Username: <email address>
Password: <your password>
Use SSL: No
Port: Default SMTP Port
-> or try use 587.

SMTP Auth: No
-> must be enabled

On More Settings> Outgoing server>Check

"My outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication"
and "Use same settings as my incoming mail server". Click OK


Well I did all the above except I could not follow the instruction "On
more setting". What more settings?

If anyone could help I'd be really grateful.

I think it would be simpler to use the mailpress addon
mailpress_connection_sendmail

see inside mailpress folder and treat it like a wordpress plugin

once activated, go to settings

SendMail is located in its default location on 1and1
servers : /usr/sbin/sendmail,

GREAT NEWS YES, IT'S WORKING

I finally tried the PHP for sending and it worked.

Thanks for all your help. Now I shall begin the process of learning to
use it. I have been sending test emails and it looks really great. I'm
just going on to see how to send the New Year Newsletters etc.

Last Question

I think sometimes I saw emails signed "The Management". Is it possible
to change this to Regards John etc
