We are using the latest stable Horde Groupware edition. And also, we
use Firefox 3.5 browser to access Horde/IMP.
Yesterday we have faced the following problem with some of our users
in our organisation. Following is the text which I sent to the user
after my investigation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You might have received some document which is in rich text format.
You might have opened it using Microsoft word and this has resulted in
adding a mime-type called 'text/richtext' with its supporting
application as MS-word in your browser setting. Subsequently, when
you attach any word document, the browser is identifying any attached
word document as 'text/richtext' type instead of 'application/msword'.
This information you can see under list of current attachments when
you attach a file and click on Update. So, the file is being sent
with wrong mime-type to the the recipient(s).
Those who have opened the attached file sent by you also were
affected, as the same mime-type and application got added in their
browsers (possibly).
Current solution: Close the browser
Remove the following file:
c:\Document&Settings\USERNAME\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.....default\mimeTypes.rdf
Here USERNAME should be replaced with your login name of your windows system.
Start browser again and this should solve the problem.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I have currently a temporary solution. Now, I would like to know,
whether this is a browser bug or Mail software bug. Both browser and
Mail software are new and it could be bug on any of the two. Could it
be a bug in IMP?
Regards,
Anant Athavale.
