Then you'll need to find someone to take ownership of the module, and who
will respond to bug reports, or requests for help in using the module. I
cannot maintain this module myself.
my programming skills are somehow limited, but I am willing to help.
I am using courier-authlib, vpopmail and qmail on a few servers....

Thanks for your offer to help, but this is something that does require a
fair amount of technical knowledge. For example, can you assemble a patch
against the current CVS that restores the authvchkpw module? If you don't
know how to do that, you're not the right person for this.
Besides, qmail is dead, abandoned software, and vpopmail is simply following
right behind it. Looking at migrating to a better-supported infrastructure
is something that people should be looking at, and nobody in their right
mind should be thinking of creating new qmail installs now. Not in this day
and age.

I am not the right person. Fair point.

We used vpopmail for a number of years but in last autumn I moved to an
all Courier environment.
As this is a one-program system rather than different pieces of
software running in tune configuration is more consistent.
What I lost at that time is the qmailadmin interface where users could
manage their own mail accounts.
I chose to implement Courier with LDAP authentication and in the
meantime I developed a GUI solution for managing mail accounts.
If you're interested in details contact me privately.

Bernd

Wrong question on the Courier mail server mailinglist, isn't it. ;-)
