Dear All,
I am announcing the CALA member meeting this year in San Diego and some logistics as below. Please let me know if you need help about a formal invitation to get visa or other documents.
(1) The date, time and venue for the CALA event/Brunch: Lunch Gathering on May 20 Sunday at 12PM local time, Searsucker (611 Fifth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101).
(2) It is free for members but charge $35 for each person who is not a member (on site joining is considered as active members). The membership fee is $50 or higher.
(3) Agenda including academic exchanges, people can give a brief speech about their recent progress in exciting sciences, awards for two junior faculty for presenting work in ATS and in the CALA meeting (please send your abstract to me as below for consideration of these awards for $400 travel expenses meeting abstract, ticket or hotel, etc.).
(4) We will announce an award for outstanding service (so far by majority votes from the executive members, we nominated Dr. Dianhua Jiang for his excellent work for CALA), please let us know if you have any concerns.
(5) We encourage your submission of news materials to be put in the Newsletter of the CALA, including research breakthrough, good publications, funding, relocation and suggestions about Bylaws revision.
(6) For the Committee business: We will add a Social Media Committee (Dr. Xiaobo Zhou nominated Chair the same below), and vote for other committee chair by email from now: the Development Committee (Dr. Yin Chen), the Membership Committee (Dr. Weiguo Chen), the Program Committee (Dr. Jinhong Li) and the Nominations Committee (Dr. Jian Fu).
Let me know if missed anything. Any additions and corrections are welcome but send by April 28 before we make full newsletter to the Wechat and email to the full membership.
