The short answer is, yes you can, but it may take some work. Start
your investigations with leoSettings.leo, the node::
@settings-->Keyboard shortcuts-->About modes
Several sets of (disabled) key bindings use modes to give multi-key bindings.
I hope to make Leo more flexible in this area for Leo 4.9.

Right. To enable the emacs setting, move them out of the @ignore node
and put the EKR settings into the @ignore node.
After that, the recommended way is to make any desired *personal*
changes in an @keys node in myLeoSettings.leo. Make sure that this
@keys node is a descendant of the @settings node in myLeoSettings.leo.
