BerlinJS February is on and it's gonna be awesome!
We’re meeting at Co-Up[1], as usual, on Thursday, February 16th, 2011,
19:00.
We chose to have an overarching theme this time and it is going to be
creative ways to use JavaScript. Animation, visualization & games,
everything that uses JavaScript in a fun way.
1. We'll start with Mary Rose Cook[2] who made a shoot-em-up game
written in JavaScript with the glorious name "Pistol Slut". She will
cover how to implement collision detection and artificial intelligence
in JavaScript and which problems she solved.
2. Fitting into the game theme we'll have Krzysztof Szafranek[3] on
stage, talking about Box2d.js[4] a port of the famous Box2d physics
engine. With Box2d you have a standardized to
bring realistic physics into a javascript application.
3. Finally, we have a special guest for you: Faruk Ateş or probably
better known as @KuraFire[5]. We've got to take a minute to thank the
generous SoundCloud[6] for sponsoring Faruk's travel to Berlin. He is
visiting Berlin — just for BerlinJS — from the nice town of Leiden in
the Netherlands.
You might know Faruk from the Modernizr project, but this time he is
going to talk about Runloop[7], his brand new jQuery plugin that makes
your life easier producing gorgeous, natural animations.
As always there is enough room for discussion and if you happen to
have a cool and creative use for JavaScript we'll find a way to show
it.
And there's beer and mate, of course.
Hope to see you there!
