Is jos_message the table where joomla stores messages?

Am I correct in that assumption?

I am new to Joomla and I am just trying to find out how its db works.

I haven't looked into that before, but when I looked in my phpmyadmin, it looks like it is for messages in the user area, as opposed to messages that show up in the front end of the site.  The reason I think this is that the other columns in that table are user id related.  Anybody, please correct me if I am wrong!  I would love to know too!

Have a look at the backend component com_messages and you'll find the
use of it.
