When using vi, the character under the cursor is not visible. Is there
a way to change the color or transparency of the cursor? Or perhaps is
there a way to change the shape of the cursor to an underscore? Or
maybe a flashing cursor so you can still see the character?

Transparent cursor it is! And yes, you should be able to change the
color of the cursor today, but it won't help your current problem of
not being able to see the character under it.

You can just invert the colors, unless that is what you meant by
transparent. Is that a small fix that can make it in the next version?
Thanks a lot!
