How do you delete a cache manifest from your development computer
(Mac)? I want to start fresh. I have a lot of text type input(s) and
am actually changing the values inline in many of them. However, the
cached value still appears and it gets confusing since I have to go
back and check to make sure that I changed the value to the correct
one in the document.

Thanks,
Linda

P.S. Please forgive the cross-post that I am about to make to Apple's
site.

Cache manifest is not an Apple nor iPhone issue, exactly.
It is an HTML5 feature. So I would think a quick Google search to be
your best bet.

I've noticed that (desktop) Safari 4.0.x seems to be overzealous in
caching and have had trouble getting it to ignore/disable caching when
I've made changes to the cache or turned it off (by removing the
manifest element from the html tag)

I'm hoping someone on this list might be able to provide insight on what
has worked for them on iPhone, (desktop) Safari or any other platform.
If anyone finds anything with Google or from another list, I'd love to
see the results posted here, too.

I have a bunch of offline application cache tips available here:

Hello,

Try ctrl+f5 on firefox and hold ctrl and click on the reload icon in
the adressbar (right side next to the URL)
Worked for me but to be sure i would force an update via JS.

Another approach is to delete the cache. That should work too!

Cheers
Max

For the iPhone, what I have done is quite simple. Go to Settings/
Safari/Databases/Edit and delete the database for a particular site.

For Vicki Murley's answer on the Apple forum, go here:

It seems to me that the desktop Safari version should have a delete
function as easy as the one on the iPhone.

What you're talking about here is different than what I had previously
thought. I thought you were talking about the HTML 5 cache manifest
referenced in the <html> element.

Have you enabled the "Develop" menu under Safari and looked under the
"Databases" icon in the debugger?

I guess I confused Vicki Murley as well. I do have the Develop menu
enabled and can view the databases as you describe. I just don't see
how to delete it in the desktop browser as you can on the iPhone.

Safari -> Preferences -> Security -> Show Databases -> Remove
