Windows 7 and driver benchmarks

Hi there again! Long time no.... write (?)

So - the driver which comes with W7 (1620 - branch 8) scores around
1350 in 3Dmark 2003 on my nx7300 (C2D 1,66, 1 GB Ram) - Cod 2 doesn't
work.

After manual installation of 965 driver (still 1620 branch 8) the
score is better by about 10 points - Cod 2 doesn't work (registry
trick applied)

old 1545 driver, branch 7 - 1360 in 3dmark 03 - cod 2 does work with
reg tweak

old 1518 driver, branch 7 - 1480 in 3dmark 03 - cod 2 does work with
reg tweak

new 1624 driver (GFX_Vista32_15.11.5.1624_PV_Intel) - 1474 in 3d mark
03 - cod 2 doe work with reg tweak

The last driver surprised me - its released on January 8, 2009 -
previous "new drivers" (anything above 1590) were troublesome - either
installation or running of OpenGL or D3D applications would result in
BSODs.

I haven't checked for flicker errors yet - when I was running vista it
would bother me to a point when I would install drivers dedicated for
945 to get rid of flickering while playing Homeworld.

My advice is - either stick with 1518 if you want to play COD2 or any
other game that requires regfix to run or.... try the new oone - 1624
- DO A BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEW DRIVERS!

Ideally - some other people could run some benchmarks so we can decide
which driver is the best.

I have played W40K for about 10 minutes - no flickering so far.

I started Warcraft 3 up and I had no flickering like I usually had.

and, have you guys tried this on vista x32 machine???
cause my warcraft 3 flickers bad..

Could you post how to modify them to work with the device ID you
mentioned, also could you post the reg hack?

Do a registry search for ~Wow.exe and it should point you to the right area.

Also there is a vid somewhere (under downloads I believe) that should show you how to mod the device id. Also that same vid is on youtube somewhere.

Does it matter which device id you use? Like is their a significant difference in using like the Q33 driver or anything?

Btw, this is for Desktop version. Can it work with mobile version,
e.g. 945 GM ?
How to regfix this driver ? Which inf file ? (There are too many in
the folder)

Works with mobile devices too

ALso I always just do a search in the registry for ~Wow.exe (to find
the right area) and then I just manually add games to the registry.
